PNC series
High-performance spinning machines
Leifeld has consistently advanced and perfected spinning technology, thereby implementing their products in innovative engineering concepts. Today's spinning machines of Leifeld's PNC series operate playback-controlled and present competitive alternatives to established procedures, such as deep drawing and stretch forming. One of the most impressive characteristics is machine efficiency: extremely flexible manufacturing possibilities, low tooling costs, as well as fast and cost-effective change capability of tools and production processes increase considerably the degree of utilization.
Basics of spinning technology
In this non-cutting manufacturing process, a round metal disc, pipe, or a cast or forged blank initially rotates. Forming rollers touching the rotating metal workpiece, exert compressive forces and finally lead to plastic flow in the metal. This technique produces any desired hollows with complicated or complex geometry, narrowest tolerances, and optimal surfaces. The advantage of spinning technology is obvious: it produces hardened metal, which results in enormous savings potential of material and weight.
Perfection of elaborate solutions
It is the idea of the ancient throwing mill, which is the basis for the successfully used technology at Leifeld today. Unlike former times, Leifeld uses material such as aluminium, copper, brass, steel or titanium. Thus, one of the oldest inventions of mankind has undergone a complex development. Leifeld continues its success with state-of-the-art CNC-driven spinning machines, flow forming machines, projection flow forming machines, profiling and necking-in machines.
